Interested in honing your comedy skills?

Join the cast of Doc and Stumpy's Instant Burlesque for a week of thinking about, talking about and doing comedy.  We'll be working with Doc's collection of classic comedy routines. Some will be familiar, like Who's On First and Niagara Falls (Slowly I Turned) - Abbott & Costello used a lot of this material in their films. Others will be brand new to you. They are all audience-tested and the situations are genuinely funny.

Apply as a team and work together !
If you bring your comedy partner, you'll come back with an act you can immediately use for variety shows, burlesque shows, musical revues, open mike nights, etc.

You'll learn to work with this material, finding the core of the scene and coming up with fresh lines through improvisation. The week will be devoted mostly to scene study in preparation for a showcase at week's end.

You'll be coached by experienced professionals - we all have over 25 years experience in comedy.

We'll discuss principles of how and why people laugh and show you formulas you can use to create original jokes, characters and comic situations.  If you like shtick, this is for you!

Here's What You'll Get!

A repertoire of genuinely funny scenes and routines you can put to use right away.
Guidelines for finding or refining your comic persona.
Methods for coming up with original scenes of your own.
Tips for analyzing scripts for comic potential.

Directions on where and how to prospect for new material.
